DOES-Office of Youth Programs: OYP is the division of DOES that creates and administers workforce development programs for DC youth ages 14-24.  OYP provides work readiness trainings, occupational skills training and employment programs for high school students as well as high school graduates. OYP also assists youth with obtaining their GED.

About: The New Futures Career Navigator is a free interactive online tool created by the DC non-profit New Futures where youth and young adults can explore careers and interest areas by taking a career assessment. Users complete the career assessment and are given their top three career clusters based on their interests.

O*Net My Next Move Application:
About: The O*Net My Next Move application is free online tool where users search and explore careers using a variety of methods. Users can browse using key words, by industry type or by taking an assessment. The tool provides detailed background on the required education, personality, skills, and abilities required for a wide range of career fields and positions.

About: The DOES-American Jobs Center (AJC) is a network of one-stop centers where DC residents can go for career counseling, job search assistance, employment workshops (such as resume building, job searching, computer and computer basics), and referrals to education and training programs. Visitors can also use computers, fax machines, telephones and copiers. It is also the place to file for Unemployment Insurance and find DC labor market information. Must have a valid ID to enter AJCs.

About: The UDC Community College Division of Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning (WDLL) provides District of Columbia residents with job skills training leading to employment. The industries focused on are those where jobs are available in the District and in the metropolitan area. The WCLL center has training in high demand industries such as: construction and property Management, healthcare, hospitality, transportation, information technology and office administration. About: Urban Alliance is the only year-long employment program for under-resourced high school seniors in Washington, D.C.,  Baltimore, MD, and Chicago, IL, and Northern Virginia. Our goal is to give youth access to professional growth and experiences. The program prepares students for a life of work and self-sufficiency through paid internships, formal training, and mentorship. During the school year, each Urban Alliance Intern works part time with a job partner in the public or private sector. On Fridays, they attend life skills and job readiness workshops. During the summer following their senior year, Urban Alliance Interns work full-time Monday through Thursday. They attend professional development workshops on Fridays. After finishing the program, Alumni have access to Urban Alliance Alumni Services. Urban Alliance Interns are paid for their work and can earn over $6,000 over the course of their senior year

Over 33,000 young adults in the National Capital Region area do not have access to livable wage careers or higher education, and our students and graduates have proven that these young adults are capable of adding immediate value to local companies.
