The George Washington University (DC) – First Star Greater Washington Academy
About: Academic program that serves high school foster youth from Fairfax County, VA and Washington, DC. Youth participants spend their summer at the Mount Vernon campus of George Washington University where they take classes and experience life on a college campus. During the school year youth also participate in activities designed to improve reading and math skills. Youth participants are also eligible for a college scholarship if they meet certain requirements.

Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children of the District of Columbia (CASA)
About: Youth in foster care are assigned a CASA volunteer who provides mentoring, support and advocates for their best interests. CASA volunteers attend court hearings and spend quality time each month with youth in the foster care system. They also work with Unaccompanied Refugee Minors (URM) that are in foster care.
