October Updates

Fall season is definitely in swing here at the Young Women's Project. We're glad to have some of the youth staff back, and excited about what's to come! Here are just a few things taking shape:

  • PHASE's peer educators are moving and shaking, and looking forward to conducting trainings in several DC public schools this year. Currently, staff are talking to principals at Coolidge, Chavez, School Without Walls and Wilson to promote advocacy and education on reproductive health and rights.
  • YWP has plans to partner with the Mayor's Youth Advisory Council (YAC). Several youth staff are on the council, and YAC teens are likely to spend time working with the PHASE staff on the condom access and availability campaign.
  • FCC is looking forward to a dynamic training and advocacy calendar. Staff are working to set up partnerships with several District organizations including CASA and KidsSave  that will lead to youth led trainings of adults working with older youth in the foster care system.
  • YWP is also anticipating stepping out into the realm of social networking. Be on the lookout for more updates as we navigate web 2.0!
